MEET LOUISE
For as long as I can remember, interiors have been instinctive to me. From endlessly rearranging furniture in my childhood home to thoughtfully styling family gatherings and Christmas tables, I have always been drawn to the feeling a space could create, how a home could influence the way people connect, relax and live together.
Creativity and design were deeply rooted within my upbringing, these have been inspired by a love of architecture, art and beautifully considered spaces which have been passed down through my grandfather. Over time, that early fascination evolved into a refined understanding of how interiors not only shape a home aesthetically, but profoundly impact the rhythm of everyday life.
Having lived across South Africa, London, Singapore and Sydney before settling in Sussex, I bring a uniquely global perspective to the way I approach design. Exposure to different architecture, cultures and ways of living has shaped my appreciation for homes that feel both elegant and deeply functional, spaces designed not just to be admired, but truly lived within.
Today, through Lou Barker Interiors, I create calm, quietly luxurious interiors tailored to modern family life. My work is grounded in thoughtful spatial planning, timeless design and an intuitive understanding of how my clients want their homes to feel. I am known for recognising the subtle blind spots that disrupt flow and functionality, and I can carefully transform homes into spaces that feel effortless, cohesive and deeply personal.
Working with professional families across Sussex and the South East, I manage every stage of the design journey with warmth and attention to detail, reducing the overwhelm of decision-making and creating homes that support connection, comfort and everyday living with ease.
